WARNING: so cute you might cry!

Okay, this post is entirely comprised of pictures over the last two or so months. Enjoy! :)

P.S. I could not love my little family any more if I tried! <3

This year has flown!

What a freaking crazy year it has been so far!
Just to fill you in, we had baby girl Jerika on January 31st!

The following month was spent away from home for all but 5 days. We spent a lot of time in Idaho, with my family and with Josh's family. We even drove up to Spokane to see more of Josh's family! We also celebrated Landen's 2nd birthday!

^^ yes, those are BSU Buster Bronco jammies :)

And celebrated Jerikas's 1 month birthday! :)

(for those without children, time goes by just as fast as people say it does. I know this because I'm pretty sure I was in the hospital just a couple months ago welcoming Landen into the world, and now he's two!)

I finally went back to work at the end of February, and things were less than ideal there. So! We decided that it was time for this little family of ours to skidaddle back to Idaho. I more than willingly turned in my notice, and the packing began!

Just a quick two weeks later, and it was moving day! This is the only family picture we have in front of our house. We loved this house so much and were so sad to leave it :(

But on to the next great adventure! We are now back in good ol' Idaho!

Welcome to 2013: Part Two

Alright!
There we were...hanging out in the hospital room...randomly being checked by the nurses and the contractions were getting worse...

Haha it was not nearly that dramatic. But! The contractions were getting worse and everything seemed to be escalating quickly! Time was going by s o s l o w l y until I finally got that heavenly epidural! I was finally able to start relaxing, and it was so nice. A few minutes later I noticed that the contractions were numb on my right side, but not on my left. We had the anesthesiologist come back in, and he told us that the baby had dropped so low that she was blocking the epidural from reaching my left side. But here's the best news! I was already so far in my labor that there wasn't anything we could do! Ha. The good news was that at least my labor was going quickly, and not much later it would all be over.

During all this chaos, we were frantically calling our family, filling them in on the deets, and trying to see if anyone would be able to make it out to Baker for the birth. (That was one huge downside to living out in Baker City. We are so far away!) While we were calling everyone, we were under the impression that it would still be a few hours before the baby arrived. Little did we know that the nurses would be coming in and saying that our doctor was on his way in, and the baby would be here soon.

WHAT!? This was escalating a lot faster than we had thought! But we still waited patiently until our doctor arrived.
It seemed like he was there within a couple of minutes. He evaluated how I was doing, and then told us that I should start pushing when I felt my next contraction and that our baby would be here in just a few minutes!

HUH!? I felt like we were just a few chapters behind where our doctor and the nurses thought we were.

Well, it was time to push. Thankfully, since we were the only ones in the birthing center, an extra nurse came to take Landen out and into a playroom while we took care of business.

I successfully pushed through 4 contractions. After the 4th one, our doctor told us that the baby would be out with the next contraction. We pushed again, and after the contraction ended, she still wasn't here. Our doctor told me to just give one push without the contraction, so I did.

And there she was!!

Jerika Elise Carlton was born at 6:43 am on January 31st! Just a short 5.5 hour labor and she was here!

Welcome to 2013! Part One

Okay. First things first. I haven't posted anything for TWO MONTHS! That's how nuts life has been!

Let's start from the beginning of January. I was still pregnant. Ha! I definitely was not wanting to be pregnant anymore and was dreading each day I woke up and hadn't gone into labor yet. There were many false alarms. My mom flew up to our house on the 22nd because I was SO SURE that the contractions I was feeling were the start of real labor. And then on the 24th, my dad drove up with my niece because we were positive that the baby was coming!

So, even though I was having contractions constantly, I was not dilating. So we tried everything (and I mean everything) to try and get my labor started. I did squats, walked, ran up and down stairs, tried raspberry leaf tea (yuck!), and none of those things seemed to be doing anything besides giving me false hope.

So my parents went home on the 27th. And I was devastated. I was so worried that no one would be here with us when the baby finally came! After that I went about my week as if everything were normal and I wasn't really 39 weeks pregnant. And lo and behold, on the morning of the 31st, the real show had begun.

I woke up just after 1 in the morning with a contraction. I thought nothing of it, because it was such a common occurrence. I went to the bathroom, because usually emptying my bladder made them go away.

I went back to bed...and the contractions kept coming.

I went and drank a glass of water. I went back to bed...and they kept coming.

I woke Josh up and told him that I was going to go take a shower to see if they would stop.

I didn't make it 5 minutes in the shower before it hurt to stand. I got out, called my mom and made sure she could get out of Sacramento as soon as possible, got dressed and went to wake Josh up. I told him this was the real deal and we needed to get to the hospital! In a matter of minutes, at 2 o'clock in the morning, we were dressed, had the hospital bag in the car, and had Landen up and ready to go.

Lucky for us, we only live about a 3 minute drive away from the hospital, so I knew we would get there before anything happened. So we're on the road and I realize, "Oh no! I'm shifted to open the Fitness Center in 2 hours!" Thankfully ( and painlessly) I was able to get my shift covered.

So we get to the hospital, check in, and start walking down to the birthing center. My contractions were a little less than 2 minutes apart at this point, so we had to move fast (when I could). We finally made it the ( what seemed like) 5 miles to the birthing center and got settled into our room. I was on the hospital bed in that horrid gown with monitors all over me, Bug was in a rocking chair watching Looney Tunes and snacking on whatever would keep him happy, and Josh (bless his heart) was pacing around the room and bring me ice chips like crazy.

TO BE CONTINUED! 😊
